German carmaker in N3.78 trillion legal battle with U.S
The United States is suing Volkswagen over it's diesel emission scandal.
Motorauthority reports that the Justice Department of the United States is suing the German carmaker for installing the “defeat device” software on close to 600,000 vehicles.
Due to the diesel emission scandal, the lawsuit is based on the violation of the Clean Air Act.
According to the Justice Department, this is only the beginning, since criminal charges could be added.

Volkswagen has not issued a statement on this new development.
So far, the scandal has caused a reduction in shares and implicated both Audi and Porsche.
