There’s no happiness around Tonto Dikeh right now. Everything looks dark, bleak and without hope.

After two years of marriage, Tonto Dikeh has fallen out of love, and her matrimonial union has hit the rocks, after allegations of domestic violence, emotional abuse, cheating and mental torture were unraveled.

Honestly, it’s a strange and very cold place to be in for one of Nigeria’s most popular stars. Tonto Dikeh became a different person when she fell in love. She slowly withdrew from the creative scene, the Lagos social circles and industry cliques. And to fill that need for activity, she turned to building a home, and becoming a mother.

She worked hard at scrubbing her bad-girl image clean, founded and ran a charity, and took up some good causes to help alleviate the hardship on people.

But at the center of it all is the marriage which was ceaselessly celebrated across the country on social media. Every photo was a hit. Back to back media outings were celebrated. And everyone could go home to sleep at night, comforted by the knowledge that no condition is permanent, and even the most condemned and judged people can turn things around and find a way to seek redemption.

Tonto Dikeh’s redemption was her marriage, but now it is gone. Although it did produce a beautiful and loved son.

Once this wind of controversy blows over, and the dust settles nicely. It will be time for Tonto Dikeh to begin to make the decision on how she wants to proceed with her career. Her skills as an actress are still valuable, and would attract investors and roles. That’s a no-brainer.

Where she needs to make the strongest decision in regards to the arts is in the music.

Tonto Dikeh’s love for the magical and expressive art of music is well-documented. She is drawn to it like moths to bright lights. She has generally failed to ignite the fans or shown enough to convince enthusiasts that she is serious.

All of her songs have been flops, and the few occasions where she has found a stage to perform, the outcome has been nothing short of a disaster. A total disaster. She doesn’t perform, she trolls humanity on stage.

Fans would rather not have her touch the music scene with the longest of polls. But knowing Tonto Dikeh and her penchant to ride against the tide, we haven’t heard the last of her in the music industry.

Tonto Dikeh needs to return with a bang. And music might just be a great vehicle to push her through. If not for anything, she gets media time and massive press coverage for her effort.

It shouldn’t be hard for her. All she needs is a good producer to hook her up with some great mid-tempo vibe, and a songwriter to put her ideas into creative and piercing flows, and yes. We will have a hit song.

Nobody wants this to happen. No one wants Tonto Dikeh back in the music game. But knowing her well, she would definitely do it because no one wants it.
