When the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, described Nigeria as being “fantastically corrupt “ , we went up in Arms, defending our ravished values and as usual, explaining ourselves away. We are the way we are because …….and the excuses begin to roll in.
A few days ago, I attended the birthday party of a certain Matriarch. . As is expected of such events, vendors were sought for, food, drinks, small chops etc. The celebrant’s family were introduced to a “Drink company” based in Lagos, to come over to the another state capital ,to render the services paid for.
At the beginning of the ceremony, this company, named Liquorice, supplied quite a number of drinks per table. In hindsight, I think this is the regular trick . You are so overwhelmed by this supply that you assume that there was a consistent supply throughout the ceremony . That is the snag… they will supply just enough to get your attention, until you too engrossed in other issues that emanate from ceremonies like this, to notice that they are no longer supplying . Hian !
Why do people think that it’s not okay for government officials to do padding, but they can in their business? This itself is corruption, daylight robbery !
Anyway , ase Liquorice staff had hired a cab to come cart away drinks “to another event they had that night “ ! Imagine ! Absolute wickedness. MW dem go pay tithe o!
I was livid! Despite the fact that they begged and asked for forgiveness ( which BTW, I gave ), I told them that it was my civic duty to inform the public that if they call vendors to be of service at a ceremony , they need to put checks and balances, employ the CIA,FBI,SSS and EFCC sef ( yes ! e don rish like dat ), to make sure that what you paid for is exactly what you are served . Let’s not be too harsh on David Cameron…wetin hin talk…hmmm…” e get cover “ o.
Below are some of the drinks that they attempted to cart away with. We have it on good report that this was supposed to be the second trip.
