1. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO), Monterrey:
This 25-year-old museum is easily distinguished by the large dove statue that stands guard at the entrance. The dove is a Juan Soriano piece.
Designed by the Mexican architect, Ricardo Legorreta, the museum has exhibited works by artists like Frida Kahlo, Ron Mueck and Spencer Tunick.
2. Museo de Arte de Zapopan, Jalisco:
The Art Museum of Zapopan is located in an historic center. It is one of the exciting sights of Jalisco and it has a great stash of contemporary art.
3. Museo Jumex, Mexico City:
Opened just three years ago, the Jumex Museum is a new addition to the artscape of Mexico City. In the short time since its opening, it has fast become a favourite for lovers.
4. Hospicio Cabañas, Guadalajara:
The Cabanas Hospice, a UNESCO’s World Heritage site, is impossible to miss when in Guadalajara. The chapel has an amazing series of murals created by Jose Clemente Orozco, one of the most popular muralists in Mexico.
5. Museo Amparo, Puebla:
The Amparo Museum opened in 1991 and has since worked tirelessly to showcase Mexico's best art.
