Paris museum emerges world's most popular museum for the 4th year running

Louvre dominated the recently released TEA/AECOM Global Attractions Attendance Report's museum rankings, attracting 8.7 million visitors.

For the 4th time running, located in Paris has emerged the most popular museum in the world.

Louvre dominated the recently released TEA/AECOM Global Attractions Attendance Report's museum rankings, attracting 8.7 million visitors, according to the 2015 Museum Index.

The report further revealed that about 106.5 million people visited the top 20 museums in the world last year.

According to the index, this was a slight drop from 107.3 million in 2014.

Fluctuation in museum attendance numbers is often driven by popular temporary exhibits, such as Tate Modern's "Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs" in 2014.

English capital city, had a total of 6 museums in the top 20 which was more than any other city.
