The DJ Coublon produced high-life number which she performed at the #AMVCA2016, met rave reviews at release and it is well on its way to being a hit and fan favourite.
Effyzzie Music has created a music video for the track and it is directed by Clarence Peters, who is responsible for directing Yemi Alade's music video for ‘Johnny’ which has gained approximately over 40 million views.
Ahead of the video premiere, Yemi Alade whets appetites with a teaser for the music video for ‘Ferrari’ which features Nollywood heartthrob Kunle Remi.
The single 'Ferrari' is off her "Mama Africa (The Diary Of An African Woman)" album.
The singer talked about her album at an exclusive album listening party which held on March 3, 2016 in Lagos. She says the album is a reflection of who she is right now.
She said her debut album “Kings of Queens” was a reflection of who she was in 2014. The ‘Johnny’ crooner’s sophomore studio album will debut on March 26, 2016.
Alade told undefined “Mama Africa” was filled with stories.
“This African woman might be me, it might be you, it might be your sister or your cousin”.
She explained that the story of the African woman is wide, continuous and doesn’t stop.
“It’s about me, it’s about you, it’s about the females, it’s about the guys, it’s about life in general and what I think, I’m going to express my pain, my joy, my thoughts even if you might think I’m crazy.
“This is me expressing myself undiluted, I’m not trying to please anyone, I’m saying it as it comes to my head after all that is what music is about”.
Yemi Alade revealed that the title of her forthcoming studio album was influenced by her travels across the continent.
“My producer Fliptyce and so many other people they’ve been calling me “Mama Africa” because they noticed that your girl no dey stay one place”, she said.
“Today I go dey Angola, tomorrow I go dey Kenya. I dey waka too much and mostly to African countries.
“So den start to dey call me “Mama Africa” you no go sit down one place", she added.
She said when she started looking for what to call her album, this name suited it perfectly.
“Mama Africa” features top African act such as Sauti Sol, DJ Arafat, Sarkodie, Selebobo, Flavour, Psquare and Rotimi Keys.
