TP Mazembe turned on the style on Sunday to go past Pyramids FC in their bid for the last four of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Congolese side secured a 2-0 second-leg victory to make up for a goalless first leg at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi on Sunday.
Orlando Pirates, Al Ahli Tripoli, and RS Berkane all join Mazembe in the semifinals of CAF's second-grade club competition as the fight for the cup starts to take shape.
Two of the cup favourites met at the first knockout stage and there was nothing to separate them in the first leg as they played a goalless draw at Pyramids FC's Cairo home ground.
However, TP Mazembe came out on top in the second leg. Christian Koffi made up for his 15th-minute missed penalty with a 33rd-minute opener.
Jephte Kitambala doubled TP Mazembe's lead in the 44th minute in a half dominated by the home side. Pyramids ramped up the pressure in the second half but were unable to find a goal to get going.
The Libyan derby between Al Ahli Tripoli and Al Ittihad also served up another engaging match, coming from a 0-0 first-leg draw.
Without a home or away advantage, both teams slugged it out at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi across both legs.
Al Ahli Tripoli took the day in the second leg courtesy of Ayoub Ayed's 19th-minute goal. Both teams took turns attacking but Ayed's goal proved to be the decider as Al Ahli Tripoli advanced to the semifinals.
Al Ahli Tripoli will meet Orlando Pirates in the semifinals with the first leg scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 8 in Benghazi while the return leg will be hosted by Pirates on Sunday, May 15.
