Ole Gunnar Solkjaer is back in the hot seat at Manchester United as training resumed on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
Solkjaer received enormous criticism after Manchester United suffered a 0-2 loss at Old Trafford against rivals Manchester City.
That was the last game for Manchester United before the international break.
With most Manchester United players jetting out to represent their country, Solkjaer also decided to escape the pressure by jetting off for a short holiday to his native Norway
However, training has resumed as Manchester United players, not on international duty reported to duty.
Solkjaer returned to Manchester United's Carrington training ground to lead a session with the available players.
Some of the Manchester United players that turned up include Jadon Sancho, Jesse Lingard, Alex Telles, Juan Mata, and Donny Van De Beek.
After defeat in the derby to Manchester City, Solkjaer has started preparation for what is now a very important game against Watford in the Premier League.
Heavy defeats to Leicester City, Liverpool, and Manchester City have increased the pressure on Solkjaer.
Former Manchester United players now pundits such as Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane have suggested that Solkjaer may not be the right man for the job at Old Trafford.
Antonio Conte linked with the position is now at Tottenham Hotspur.
Possible replacements being suggested include Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino, and former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane who has previously worked with Cristiano Ronaldo.
With several other stars expected to join training this week, Solkjaer will be hoping for a favorable result when the Red Devils travel to face Watford at Vicarage Road in a fixture that could determine the Norwegian’s continuation at the club.
