Nigerian-American professional mixed martial artist (MMA) Kamarudeen Usman was in attendance for the main event at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 281 this weekend.
The 35-year-old former UFC welterweight champion was front row as his compatriot Nigerian-New Zealander Israel Mobolaji Adesanya was knocked out by Brazilian Alexsandro Pereira.
Usman along with several UFC stars were in attendance for one of the biggest UFC events of the year held at Madison Square Garden, New York United States of America (USA).
It turned out that Nigeria's representative Adesanya gave a good account of himself for four rounds up 3-1 on the judges' scorecard until Pereira stopped him with a combination of punches at the two-minute mark of the fourth round.
Usman promotes Black Panther at Adesanya's downfall
Before the fight, Usman and UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou paid a visit to Adesanya's in the locker room of the NBA franchise the New York Knicks.
Usman, Adesanya, and Ngannou all posed to do the symbol of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie superhero Black Panther.
Usman was the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and in the movie played the role of a warrior given adequate screen time.
After giving his top five superheroes at the premiere the Nigerian nightmare as Usman is known was at the Garden with some casts from the movie.
Usman took to social media to give his thoughts following the celebration of Black Panther at the fight between Adesanya and Pereira.
A message on his official social media platforms said, "There’s always turbulence before the breakthrough. This makes success so much sweeter. Champions never stay down. We always find a way to the top.
"What an amazing weekend with even more amazing people and energies🫶🏿🫶🏿 #blessed #ufc281."
Usman lost his UFC welterweight title after being knocked out by Leon Edwards but is scheduled to have a rematch early in 2023.
