Former Italian striker Antonio Cassano has weighed in on the rumours linking Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen with a move to Manchester United in a swap deal for Cristiano Ronaldo.
A few days before the transfer deadline, rumours emerged that Manchester United were considering tabling a sensational Cristiano Ronaldo plus €100m offer to sign Osimhen from Napoli.
However, it seems the transfer trail has gone cold after Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti confirmed that the news were 'wide off the mark.'
Ronaldo does not help the team - Cassano
In response to Spalletti's decision, Cassano has suggested that the Napoli manager did not want Ronaldo in his dressing room because the Portuguese forward would have caused him problems.

As reported by areanapoli, the former Inter Milan striker stated that Ronaldo does not help the team apart from the goals he scored.
Cassano claimed: "Would Spalletti agree to put himself a huge problem in the locker room? I doubt it. The problem is that Ronaldo does not help the team. goals per game."
Cassano describes Ronaldo as a timebomb
The 40-year-old ex-footballer turned pundit noted that it does not make sense for Napoli and Spalletti to cash in on Osimhen now, only to sign a 'timebomb' in reference to Ronaldo.
“From Spalletti I can expect him to say goodbye and thank you if the club decides to do this. For him it would be a big step backwards. Selling Osimhen for money and then putting a timebomb in it makes no sense," Cassano concluded.
Cristiano Ronaldo has found life difficult at Manchester United at the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season, starting the last two matches against Liverpool and Southampton on the bench.
Meanwhile, Osimhen has already bagged two (2) goals in four Serie A matches for Napoli so far with the Partenopei keen on mounting another Scudetto bid this season.
