Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that the songs of late hip-hop singer and rapper, Da Grin was one of his major motivations in his earlier years.
The Napoli forward handpicked Da Grin's 2009 single Ghetto Dreams as the song that is always playing in his head and that resonates with his career.
The 25-year-old Nigerian international is said to have grown up in the Ojota environs of Lagos, an area considered to be one of the Ghetto areas of the metropolis.
Osimhen remembers Da Grin
In an interview with NFF TV, Osimhen opened up about his life in the 'trenches', referring to how he strived to achieve his dreams despite being poor.

When asked what song currently plays in his head all the time, the Napoli forward said: "It's this song by Da Grin - Ghetto Dreams. I like the song because, for me, it is ever-green. It summed up to the things I've gone through and the things happening now."
"When I was in the ghetto, girls would dream of becoming Genevieve while boys would dream of becoming Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, and Obafemi Martins.
"So I believe the song really sums up to my past and present experiences even if some of us have not achieved it still."
Osimhen reveals his nickname
The former Lille striker also reminisced about his childhood days in the 'trenches', revealing his nickname when he was young and now that he is at Napoli.
Osimhen said: "When I dey trenches, dem been dey call me Odossi - [When I was in the trenches, my nickname was 'Odossi']. It was my landlord that named me this because I was so stubborn then.
"Honestly, till today I don't know the meaning of the name but I really like the name. Now at Napoli, they call me 'Osi.'"
Osimhen is with the 27-man Super Eagles squad called up to prosecute the twin AFCON 2023 qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.
The Super Eagles will face the Leone Stars on Thursday, June 9 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja before travelling to Morocco to face Sao Tome and Principe on Monday, June 13.
