Cristiano Ronaldo vs Nigeria
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers have been postponed to March next year.
This means that the Super Eagles are free in the September FIFA Window.
According to the Secretary-General, the NFF have now decided to make use of the FIFA window by setting up a high profile friendly.
Speaking on Brila FM, Sanusi said, “We are all aware that qualifiers was fixed for September but because of the change of date of the AFCON qualifiers which has been moved to next year March, therefore the NFF has made it a duty to always use the FIFA window to play quality friendly matches with the aim of keeping the team in good shape.
“That’s why we use the contact and connection of our coach (Jose) Peseiro who is a Portuguese to arrange a quality friendly match with the Portuguese national team.“
The friendly means that the Super Eagles will have a test against Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best players in the world.
Portugal aim to use the Super Eagles friendly as a test ahead of the group stage fixture against the Black Stars of Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.
