Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq was the hero of the night as Almeria grabbed their first win of the 2022/23 La Liga season.
The newly-promoted La Liga side nicked a surprising 2-1 victory over visitors Sevilla at the Estadio del Mediterraneo on Saturday.
Sadiq's 55th-minute goal was the difference between both clubs as Almeria continue a modest start to their La Liga campaign which has now seen only one loss (2-1) to defending champions Real Madrid.

Coming off an impressive 1-1 draw away at Elche last weekend, Almeria were keen to get more points on the board and went head-to-head with Sevilla despite the gulf in personnel quality.

While Sevilla lined up with Erik Lamela and Rafa Mir in front, Almeria had Umar Sadiq and Largie Ramazani leading the line for them for the third week running.
After an end-to-end first 15 minutes of the match, Sevilla began to gain the upper hand over their hosts more often and ultimately converted their dominance to a goal in the 30th minute through Oliver Torres.
A hardworking Almeria side failed to give up, making sure to draw the game level before they both went away for halftime. Ramazani bagged his second goal in three games for Almeria, getting on the end of Alejandro Pozo's assist in the 42nd minute.
Sadiq would go on to win it for Almeria, with the Nigerian international having scored the last goal of the game in the 55th minute and Almeria keeping the Sevilla attack at bay.

The Super Eagles star was as impressive and hardworking as ever, with the 25-year-old recording a total of one (1) shot on target, two (2) shots off target, one (1) blocked shot and one (1) big chance missed.
The Almeria top scorer from last season also got involved in the general play, feeding off two (2) key passes and created one (1) big chance from his 27 touches all through the game.
Sadiq also dug in defensively for the team contesting 14 duels all match as well as committing four (4) fouls.
The Super Eagles striker now has two (2) goals from his last two (2) matches to help Almeria to 9th on the La Liga table.
Almeria will be in action again on Monday, September 5 when they will visit Real Valladolid at the Jose Zorilla in a bid to continue their good run in the league.
