Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has opened up about his purple patch in front of the goal for Italian Serie A side Atalanta.

The 24-year-old attacker has been in imperious form for Gian Piero Gasperini's side, netting in his last three Serie A matches against Fiorentina, Udinese, and Sassuolo.

Lookman's three goals have won Atalanta six points in the last three matches, with the club now second on the log, two points behind Napoli.

'I am happy here' - Ademola Lookman on Atalanta

Lookman has settled in well at Atalanta after just completing a permanent move to the Italian club from German side RB Leipzig this summer transfer window.

While discussing his recent goalscoring streak, the Super Eagles forward explained that he feels settled at Atalanta after playing on loan for three of the last four seasons.

Lookman told Sky Italia: “I am very happy to be here, I feel very settled in the squad and the city. I am enjoying my football. Long may it continue!”

Lookman's latest goal helped Atalanta grab a 2-1 home victory over Sassuolo, giving them 24 points from a possible 30 so far and momentarily taking them top of the log.

'We go game by game' - Lookman tells Atalanta teammates

Following their unbeaten start in the league, the Super Eagles forward enjoined his teammates to take the league one game at a time and see how it goes from there.

"It was another tough match against another tough opponent, we’re glad to get the three points. The boys dug in deep and it was a resilient performance,” Lookman explained.

"Obviously that’s a long way away. Like I said before, we take it game by game, we’ve been doing that and getting results. We’re just happy to be top of the table for now and then we’ll see how time goes.”

Atalanta will return to action on Sunday, October 23 when they take on 5th-placed Lazio at the Gewiss Stadium by 5:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
