Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has been nominated for the 2022 Marc Vivien Foe Award for the Best African Footballer in the French Ligue 1.
The Nantes forward was shortlisted amongst 11 other African players to succeed 2021 winner, RC Lens winger Gael Kakuta for the prestigious award.
The winner of the award, which is jointly organised by French media organisations Radio France International (RFI) and France 24, will be announced on May 16 after a vote by a jury of specialized judges.
RFI hails 'fast, formidable dribbler' Moses Simon
Simon would be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Vincent Enyeama and Victor Osimhen who both won the award while at Lille in 2014 and 2020 respectively.
RFI, in an official press statement announcing Moses Simon's nomination, described the 26-year-old winger as 'fast, technical, and a formidable dribbler.'
The statement reads: "Fast, technical and confusing, the 27-year-old Nigerian winger brings a touch of unpredictability to the game at FC Nantes. More than a scorer, the Super Eagle is above all a decisive passer and a formidable dribbler. A profile that has become rare in Ligue 1."
Other nominees for the award include Paris Saint-Germain's Moroccan left-back Achraf Hakimi, Lyon's Cameroonian forward Karl Toko Ekambi, and Ivory Coast's Lens midfielder Seko Fofana.
