English Premier League club Nottingham Forest have released a press statement on the current condition of Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis going into the latest international break.

Dennis was initially left out of the original 25-man squad called up by Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro to prosecute Nigeria's upcoming friendly against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.

However, the former Watford striker was selected as a replacement for Henry Onyekuru after the Adana Demirspor forward pulled out due to injury.

Thus, while providing squad updates on their players called up for international duty, Nottingham Forest confirmed that Dennis indeed turned down Nigeria's invitation due to injury.

In an official press statement released on the club's website, Nottingham Forest commented on both Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis in respect to their international call-ups.

The statement read in part: "Taiwo Awoniyi has both been called up to the Nigeria squad for their friendly against Algeria on Tuesday 27th September, 8pm kick-off UK time. Emmanuel Dennis, meanwhile, has withdrawn due to injury."

Emmanuel Dennis made his Super Eagles debut on September 10, 2019, in an international friendly against Ukraine which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Since then, the Kwara Football Academy graduate has made only six (6) further appearances for the National team, recently scoring his first goal for the Super Eagles in the 10-0 mauling of Sao Tome & Principe.
