Liverpool's star forward Mohamed Salah will compete with his former teammate Sadio Mane as they go head-to-head again for the 2022 CAF Player of the Year Award.
Reigning African Player of Year Mane will also have to compete with his international teammate Edouard Mendy as the Chelsea first-choice goalkeeper also made it to the final 10-man shortlist for the award.
Algeria, Cameroon, Guinea, Morocco and Ivory Coast all had representatives in the final shortlist with the Super Eagles of Nigeria having none of its players shortlisted for the prestigious award.
CAF shortlists Mane, Salah, Mendy for Player of the Year
According to a press statement released on CAF'S official website on Monday morning, the 10-man list is the final one before the awards are handed out on Thursday, July 21.

Former winner of the award, Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez is one of the leading contenders as well as Cameroon's pair of Karl Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar.
Sebastien Haller represents Ivory Coast while Naby Keita and Achraf Hakimi fly the flags of Guinea and Morocco respectively as the other countries to get one nomination each.

CAF revealed that the Awards Gala would take place in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday July 21, 2022 where Sadio Mane would either retain his 2019 crown or a new African Player of the Year would be anointed.
