Super Eagles and Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka is on his way to full recovery from his ankle injury according to his club side.
The 24-year-old midfielder picked up an injury while on international duty with Nigeria for the two-legged World Cup Qualifiers against the Black Stars of Ghana.
Onyeka has not featured for the Bees since then, having been on a rehabilitative journey from his injury.
Frank Onyeka now wearing a protective boot
According to The Athletic's Brentford reporter Jay Harris, Onyeka has now stopped using crutches and has a protective boot on now.
In a post on his personal Twitter account, Harris confirmed that Onyeka has dropped the walking aides and is recovering from the injury he picked up on international duty.
Harris tweeted: "Frank Onyeka is no longer on crutches, but is still in a protective boot. The 24yo midfielder suffered an ankle injury on international duty with Nigeria."
Onyeka to make Premier League return this season
Furthermore, Brentford manager Thomas Frank confirmed that Onyeka is not yet available for selection but hopes the Nigerian international can return to full action before the end of the season.
Thomas Frank made the revelations during his pre-match press conference before the weekend victory over Watford.
The Brentford manager said: "Frank Onyeka will still be out. We hope that he will be back before the end of the season."
Frank Onyeka's last appearance for Brentford was in a 3-1 away victory against Norwich City on March 5.
The 24-year-old Super Eagles star player both legs of the World Cup Qualifiers against Ghana, coming on as a 59th-minute substitute in the first leg and starting the second leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja before he was withdrawn at halftime.
Brentford are on a three-match winning streak having defeated Chelsea (A), West Ham United (H), and Watford (A) in that time.
The Bees have fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur (H), Manchester United (A), Southampton (H), Everton (A), and Leeds United (H) left on their roster before the end of the Premier League season.
