In his post-match press conference, Belmadi praised his side's attacking intent against the Guineans which saw them concede only a few counterattacks, stressing that he wants them to do the same against the Super Eagles.

“You have to learn to suffer. In the second period, we almost camped at their house, almost no opportunity conceded except for counterattacks.

"A lot of positives. Nigeria is another game. We will try to get the whole group to play," Algerian news outlet Fennec Football reported.

Mahrez, Slimani likely to start against Super Eagles

The AFCON-winning coach also revealed that he would be bringing in more established players into the starting line-up on Tuesday for the clash against Nigeria, noting that the Super Eagles are not a small team.

Belmadi said: “The next game there will be more connection in our game because there will be players who are used to being there.

"You need automatisms to have a smoother game. Opposite, we have a good opposition. It's not a small team."

Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez and eventual goal scorer Slimani both started on the bench for Algeria on Friday night with Mahrez coming on as a 66th-minute substitute while Slimani came on in the 72nd minute.

Both substitutes contributed to Algeria's goal as Mahrez assisted Slimani to score in the 80th minute, continuing a six-game winning streak for the North Africans.
