New Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro is focusing his efforts on training the Super Eagles stars on clinical finishing as the team prepares for two upcoming AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
The Portuguese manager will have his first taste of African football with the Super Eagles when he leads the team out for two AFCON 2023 qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Mauritius later in June.
Peseiro lost his first match with the Super Eagles as the three-time African champions fell 2-1 to the El Tri of Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Sunday, May 29.
Peseiro starts full Super Eagles training session
Ahead of Nigeria's friendly with Ecuador and the doubleheader AFCON 2023 qualifiers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed the areas the Super Eagles team was focusing on in training.

According to an official press release by the NFF Communications Department as obtained by Pulse Sports, Peseiro led the team in 'close control, space management, and clinical finishing, during their training session on Monday, May 30.
The press statement read in part: "Having divested themselves of procession and environmental issues (long-haul travels and time zone body reaction), the Eagles filed out for full training session at the Montclair State University pitch on Monday.
"Monday’s session was accented on close control, space management and clinical finishing, as Coach José Peseiro supervised proceedings alongside his assistants."
Ola Aina, Innocent Bonke injury concerns for Super Eagles
The press statement also provided injury updates on the Super Eagles team with only Torino defender Ola Aina and Lorient midfielder Innocent Bonke not taking part in Monday's training session due to minor knocks.
Both players were reported to have had 'light recovery training' sessions individually and have not been ruled out of the upcoming matches.
"Most of the players showing the usual enthusiasm, energy and sharpness. Only defender Olaoluwa Aina, who suffered a knock during the team’s first training session in Dallas, and midfielder Innocent Bonke, who copped a knock in Saturday’s game against the Mexicans, stayed out of the gruelling session to do light recovery training of their own," the NFF statement read.
The Super Eagles are billed to face Ecuador in a friendly match on Friday, June 3 at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey before their doubleheader AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
Afterwards, the team will jet out to Nigeria's capital Abuja to take on Sierra Leone on Thursday, June 9 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium as they start their qualification journey to next year's Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles will then travel to Saint Pierre to take on Mauritius in another AFCON 2023 qualifier on Monday, June 13.
