Super Eagles of Nigeria defender Abdullahi Shehu had a meeting with Sokoto State governor His Excellency, Aminu Tambuwal.

The 29-year-old defender took to his official Instagram account on Sunday, June 5, 2022 to give details on the meeting with the governor.

According to Abdullahi, the meeting with the governor was to discuss important issues in the state of Sokoto.

Abdullahi recently arrived in Nigeria after the season ended in Cyprus.

Abdullahi arrives Sokoto

Upon his arrival in Sokoto, Abdullahi expressed satisfaction with the reception he received.

He wrote, “It feels great to return home (Sokoto) after a long season. Good to see my friends and family with smiles on their faces.

“Together, we can build a community that will attract a positive image. I am honoured to share such a beautiful moment with everyone.”

Abdullahi meets Tambuwal

Abdullahi who won the 2022 Cypriot Cup with Athletic Club Omonoia Nicosia revealed the reason he met with the Sokoto State Governor.

He wrote, “I met with His Excellency, Aminu Tambuwal to discuss important issues concerning our dear state, Sokoto.

“The growth of the State economically, the safety of citizens, and creating an enabling environment for sports and other businesses in the state.

“The discussion was fruitful and I am optimistic, we can build a greater Sokoto State together.”

After his meeting with the Governor of Sokoto, Abdullahi who is among the 27 players invited by Jose Peseiro for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome departed to join camp.
