Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq was on target on Monday night as Almeria grabbed their first point of the 2022/23 La Liga season.
In their first away match on their return to the top flight, Almeria held on for a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Martinez Valero in a tightly-contested match against Elche.
Sadiq proved his importance to the Almeria side once again, as he grabbed his team's only goal of the night in the 23rd minute to open his La Liga goalscoring account for the season.
Almeria draws with Elche in La Liga
The Nigerian international was selected to lead the Almeria forward line again as the Rubi-led side sought to bounce back from an opening day defeat to champions Real Madrid.

Playing against Elche who also lost their opening game, both sides strived to get an early foothold in the game with three points up for grabs.
However, it was Super Eagles striker Sadiq who would make the first telling impact on the game, connecting with Lucas Robertone's assist in the 23rd minute to give the visitors the lead.
The game continued in its end-to-end fashion as both evenly-matched sides tried to outdo the other in the penultimate Matchday 2 fixture of the La Liga slate of matches.
It took just seven minutes for Elche to equalise as Alex Colado got on the end of Roger Mati's ball in the 30th minute to bring the scores to 1-1.
More cautious play, turns in attack, and a swathe of substitutions followed in the second half but both sides were unable to find the back of the net again and settled for their first solitary points of the season.

Umar Sadiq was at his hardworking best for Almeria again, featuring for 81 minutes before being replaced by Dyego Sousa.
In his time on the pitch, the Super Eagles striker tallied 29 touches with eight (8) accurate passes, one (1) key pass, and one (1) successful dribble attempt.
Sadiq also defended from the front, contesting a total of 19 duels while also drawing one (1) foul from the Elche backline.
The Nigerian international will hope to help Almeria get their first victory in the La Liga when they host Sevilla at the Estadio del Mediterraneo on Saturday, August 27.
