Liverpool were on the cusp of a League title after 24 years before everything came crashing.
The tone of the crash was set by Steven Gerrard's infamous slip which led to Liverpool conceding a goal in the game against Chelsea in April 2014.
That slip by Steven Gerrard gave the ball away to Chelsea striker, Demba Ba to open scoring in the 0-2 defeat of Liverpool.
That defeat by Chelsea was the turning point of a title race which Liverpool had an advantage in and Steven Gerrard has revealed that his slip on that day is always hunting him.
"The slip happened at a bad time, it was cruel for me personally. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about if that hadn’t happened," Gerrard said in an interview with former England international Rio Ferdinand.
"Would things have been different? Would it have turned out different?" the 35 year-old asked.
Gerrard is set to join MLS side, LA Galaxy after quitting his boyhood club, Liverpool.
The former England captain however revealed that the decision to quit Liverpool was made the day he was dropped to the bench in a UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid in 2014.
"This situation was unique because it was Real Madrid and I wanted to play," Gerrard who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 said.
"When I was told I wasn’t playing for the sake of the team, because of my relationship with Brendan, I took it and I accepted it."
"But I sat on that bench devastated because I wanted to play. It pushed me into making a decision to move on and try something different."
