Departing FIFA president back at work after resigning

Despite announcing his resignation, Sepp Blatter is still the president and still continues to carry out his duties

After announcing his resignation as FIFA President, Sepp Blatter on Wednesday, June 3 was back at work at the world football governing body's headquarters in Switzerland.

In a hastily arranged press conference on Tuesday, June 2, undefined.

His resignation comes following a corruption scandal that has hit FIFA in the past couple of days.

Despite the drama, Blatter was back to work on Wednesday morning as he is set to continue as president until his successor has been named.

An extraordinary congress will be arranged where an election will be held for the next President of FIFA.

It is widely thought that the next FIFA Congress will hold in December leaving Blatter in charge for the next four months.

“Everything continues as before. The president is still president, until the election of his successor,” a FIFA spokesman said at the Zurich headquarters on wednesday.

Blatter has said he will keeping working until an election is held and that is not expected until December at the earliest.
