Nigerian footballer wins Chelsea Academy Player of the Year

Tomori was born in Canada to Nigerian parents and joined Chelsea at the Under-8 level.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a fantastic season, scoring in the finals as Chelsea won UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup.

"What a few days. Buzzing to have won Chelsea Academy Player of the Year tonight. Thank you for all the messages,” he wrote on his Instagram.

Chelsea forward Willian won the Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year trophies.

The 27-year-old was Chelsea’s best player of the season, scoring 11 goals in 48 appearances.

Eden Hazard won the award for Goal of the Season for his strike in Chelsea 2-2 draw with with Tottenham while midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was named Chelsea's Young Player of the Year after a breakthrough year.

Interim manager Guus Hiddink was given a personalised scooter and a set of golf clubs as presents from the club.
