Nigerian striker ruled out for 7 months with hamstring injury

Martins had to be stretchered out of Shanghai Shenhua 2-2 draw with Kashima Antlers on Tuesday.

Shanghai Shenhua has been ruled out for even months with a torn hamstring injury, his Chinese Super League (CSL) club announced on Wednesday, April 4.

Shanghai Shenhua played out a 2-2 draw against Kashima Antlers on Tuesday, April 4 in the AFC Champions League, and Martins had to be substituted due to an Injury concern.

Martins started the game for Shanghai Shenhua but had to be replaced by Jianqing Mao in the 22nd minute due to the Nigerian being unable to continue.

This injury blow comes just three days after scoring a hattrick for Shanghai Shenhua in their 4-2 win over Hebei CFFC on Saturday, March 31.

This season, the 33-year-old has scored three goals in the CSL and his the game against Kashima Antlers was his first AFC Champions League game.

Tuesday's draw means Shenhua cannot qualify for the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League.
