The 2013/2014 Nigerian season came to a close with Kano Pillars emerging champions for the third time consecutively.
During and after the season a lot happened to mostly all the team with respect to the gaffers but most notably are the one who have been laid off before the start of the new season in March.
Top on the list of seven highlighted coaches who have been drummed out of their official duties is former Under-20 coach Godwin Koko Uwua who was sacked last Friday at a standpoint.
1 - Godwin Koko Uwua: Until Friday may have been making plans for the next season when the news hit him that his services are no longer needed. According to sources, he was sacked for failing to return Niger Tornadoes to the NPFL
2 - Kelechi Emeteole: the veteran coach was laid off the coaching job at Owerri club, Heartland FC early into the year but fortunately for him, he was reappointed by another Eastern cub, Enugu Rangers just days after the termination of his post in Imo state.
3 – John Obu: The former Under-17 and Under-20 coach of the Nigeria’s male football teams was sacked due to an uninspiring season with Enugu Rangers. He has been replaced with Kelechi Emeteole. He, however, is touted to take over the vacant position of Technical adviser at Akwa United with the immediate occupant, Patrick Udoh also in contention.
4 – Samson Unuanel: Despite the seasoned tactician’s denial of sack, he remained sacked by Kwara United even after guiding them to promotion into the topflight Nigeria Professional Football League.
5 - Akeem Busari: The 3SC manager faced the fire after a torrid season with the Oluyole warriors.
