The Central African side are scheduled to host the continental tournament, but there have been several reports that they may be stripped of the hosting rights.
With Morocco failing to land the 2026 FIFA World Cup the USA, Canada and Mexico, they have been tipped to replace Cameroon as the hosts of the 2019 AFCON according to several reports.
Pinnick who is the President of the Organising Committee for the AFCON has, however, come out to give assurances to Cameroon ahead of the tournament.
Pinnick meet with committee members in Cameroon to determine how the country are preparing to host Africa’s finest football countries.
After the assessment, he stated that the country is very much ready to host the event as their facilities are up to standard to accommodate the first 24 nation AFCON.
In a report by, Pinnick gave his opinion to journalists after the assessment.
He said, “What we have seen so far is quite impressive. Trust me, it’s really really impressive.
“The government has made huge efforts to host the best AFCON ever and we are very excited about it.
“We don’t want people to have any form of misconception, we are here for serious business and what I saw in the presentation (from Cameroon government) is amazing.
“By the time the tournament ends, I don’t think there’ll be any country that will have the kind of facilities that Cameroon will have."
He also stated the importance of Cameroon as a football country in Africa and all but confirmed that they will host the tournament.
He said, “Cameroon is the heart of Africa and CAF President Mr Ahmad is in support of what we’re doing here. Every challenge that we envisaged are the things we came to discuss with the Minister and he has given us a lot of assurances.
“Nobody is going to take it away from Cameroon. Cameroon are one of the greatest footballing nations in the World, and not just Africa.”
Cameroon have been crowned African champions on four occasions and the 2019 AFCON is expected to hold Friday, June 7 till Sunday, June 30.
