The 2021/22 campaign has brought good memories for our ambassadors abroad.
Here is a review of Nigeria's top scorers in the 2021/22 season.
Paul Onuachu - Genk
The lanky man is a world-class forward who is currently under contract with Genk in Belgium. In the season competitions, he has 10 goals in the top flight.
Onuachu is six foot seven inches tall, meaning that he provides a considerable threat to opponents in the air and on the deck.
Those qualities were put to good use last season as he registered 35 goals in all competitions, with 33 efforts in the Belgian top flight landing him the Golden Boot.
Odion Ighalo - Al Shabab
Next in line is Yakubu, with a total of 9 goals. The 32-year-old is currently under contract with Al Shabab, and his in-form has been instrumental for his club in the Saudi Arabian Professional league.
He lists Udinese, Lyn Oslo, Cesena, Granada, Watford, Changchun Yatai, Shanghai Shenhua and Manchester United as his former clubs.
Taiwo Awoniyi - Union Berlin
The 24-year-old is under contract with Union Berlin in Germany, and he has managed 7 goals this season. His scoring record is astounding.
Taiwo Awoniyi was sold to the German side for a reported fee of £6.5million after failing to make a breakthrough at Liverpool.
If Awoniyi can find consistency, he is set for a prosperous club and national team career.
Victor Osimhen - Napoli
Osimhen is on a long-term contract with Napoli until 2024. He is proving to be an elite striker. He has managed to score 5 goals in the Serie A this season. The sharp shooter is the number one striker for both club and country.
His attacking contributions have helped the Parthenopeans maintain a 11-game unbeaten streak in the league which puts them on top of the table with 31 points.
Anthony Nwakaeme - Trabzonspor
Five goals for a player who functions from the left hand side of attack deserves commendation.
Nwakaeme has always given Trabzonspor fans something to cheer with his crucial goals in the Turkish Super Lig.
Stephen Odey - Randers
This is a 23-year-old striker currently on loan to Randers in Denmark. As a forward, he has had a successful season scoring 5 incredible goals.
With his goals alerting clubs outside of Denmark, smart money will be on him to put the dark memories of parent club Genk behind to fire himself to more glory.
