Nigerian Senate add voice
In the plenary session on Tuesday, February 13, the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah (APC, Kebbi South), raised a motion and spoke about the issue.
Senator Na’allah cited order 43 and spoke on the need for the Senate Committee on Banking to bring the foundation and the bank where the management of his foundation acquired the loan from.
Senate President Bukola Saraki added his voice and reiterated the need to help Kanu who has served Nigeria very well.
“Kanu served this nation very well. He was an active footballer. Nwankwo also played for one of the best clubs in the United Kingdom Premier League,”- Saraki said.
”There are many reasons why I am very sympathetic to this. It is key that for those people who serve this nation diligently, we must do what we can.
“Therefore, Chairman on Banking, look into the matter.”
Kanu set up the Kanu Heart Foundation after he survived a heart defect which had threatened to cut short his brightening career at a time.
Since it was founded, the foundation has assisted 538 heart operations in England, India, Nigeria and Israel.
