The
Ameh-Otachewon the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON)with the Super Falcons of Nigeria in 2004 and also the country at both the Olympic games and the Africa Games in the same year.
"We are sad to hear of the sudden passing of former Nigeria midfielder, African Women's Championship winner, Olympian, Ajuma Otache who passed on Saturday," the NFF announced on Twitter.
"Our thoughts are with her young family. May her soul rest in peace."
Before her death, the former midfielder had been battling with a rare muscular disease and died around midday on Saturday, November 10.
She is survived by husband Peter Otache and three children.
Ameh-Otache made her name playing for Pelican Stars in Calabar and became a coach after her playing career.
She worked with the Nigeria's women U-17 team and later made headlines with her success in charge of a male side in the Nationwide League One .
