Nigeria's under 17 women's football team known as the Flamingos now know their group opponents at the upcoming 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

The Flamingos were drawn in Group B of the World Cup on Friday, June 24, 2022.

The team led by head coach Bankole Olowookere have a tough group with three other countries from different continents.

The Flamingoes will face Germany, Chile and New Zealand in group of the World Cup.

Groups

GROUP A: India, USA, Morocco, Brazil

GROUP B: Germany, Nigeria, Chile, New Zealand

GROUP C: Spain, Colombia, Mexico, China

GROUP D: Japan, Tanzania, Canada, France

Flamingos in India

The Flamingos went through a rigorous qualification campaign to book a place at the World Cup in India.

In their final qualification round, the Flamingos overcame Ethiopia to seal their place in India.

The Flamingos have a lot of attacking players as star forward Opeyemi Ajakaye contributed six goals in the qualifications series.

The Flamingoes defeated Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia scoring 15 goals and conceding none to book their place in India.

The Flamingos, play their first game against Germany at 8pm India time on Tuesday, 11th October at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.

The second group game is against New Zealand on 14th October (4.30pm) also at the Nehru Stadium in Goa, and their final group fixture is against Chile at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on 17th October (4.30pm).
