Faith Ikidi wins league with title in Sweden with Pitea

Faith Ikidi's Pitea beat Osinachi Ohale's Vaxjo to be crowned champions of the Swedish Dammalsveskan league.

Ikidi who is 31-years-old played a crucial role for her side in the league triumph as participated in 20 games.

The victory was the first time Pitea would win the Swedish Dammalsveskan after they cruised to a 6-1 home win over Vaxjo.

Pitea were crowned champions with 48 points from a 22 games throughout the season.

Before their win against her compatriot , Ikidi's Pitea lost 1-0 at Rosengård in their last fixture on Monday.

Ikidi is not the only player to win the league this season as Super Falcons striker .

It was the second time Ikidi will win the league title since joining in 2010, by winning the title Pitea have qualified to compete in the season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The Nigerian defender put in a very good display and was named the Man of the Match for her efforts.

She is included in the 49 Super Falcons squad released by head coach for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).
