Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has responded to allegations that he requested a wage packet of €6m to sign a permanent deal with Dutch side Feyenoord.
The 27-year-old striker stated that his demands have been interpreted the wrong way as he only asked for what he is worth.
Respected Dutch sports journalist Johan Derksen had earlier claimed that Feyenoord did not go ahead with the €4m permanent signing of Dessers because of his wage demands.
Dessers sticks to €4m wage demands
As reported by Voetbal4u, Dessers responded to the allegations that he was requesting too much by saying that his wage demands were in line with what other players are being paid.

The Nigerian international also expressed his disappointment at the manner in which the events are being reported, suggesting that that was not the full story.
Dessers said: “I think it's a shame it's played on that, because I don't think that's what this story is about. I asked for a wage that is in line with the market."
I sacrificed already for Feyenoord - Dessers
The Nigerian international, who is now back with his parent club KRC Genk, revealed that he is not just about the money because he gave up a lot financially to make the loan deal to Feyenoord happen in the first place.
The 27-year-old Nigerian International also suggested that he cannot keep giving up his wages as he searches to be an integral member of a team.
"People don't know that, but I gave up pretty hard to get to Feyenoord. Financial has never been a priority for me, but of course I can't keep giving up for years," Dessers explained.
Dessers' impressive season for Feyenoord
Cyriel Dessers had a productive season on loan at Feyenoord for the 2021/22 season, notching 21 goals and six (6) assists for the Dutch side from 47 appearances across all competitions.
The Super Eagles star scored 10 goals and made two (2) assists to take Feyenoord to the final of the inaugural edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Jose Mourinho's AS Roma won the final in Tirana by a lone goal but Dessers still finished top scorer in the competition ahead of England international Tammy Abraham.
