Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was his best defensively as Everton moved one point clear of relegation following a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
Anthony Gordon was the hero of the day for the Toffees after his deflected goal gave Everton their first win in three matches.
Iwobi played his second consecutive 90 minutes game, created one chance, had one key pass, won 100% of his tackles, made two interceptions, and had six recoveries against the Red Devils.
Both teams went into the game looking for all three points as they looked to boost their Champions League and relegation battles respectively.
The Red Devils dominated most of the possession at Goodison Park but failed to make it count as Jordan Pickford denied Marcus Rashford early on with an excellent save.
That was one of four saves made by the England first choice goalkeeper, who also denied Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo late on.
In the end, the home side helped on for the won and all three points which eases the pressure on their underfire manager, Frank Lampard.
What the result means
Following that crucial win, Iwobi's Everton are four points clear of relegation, albeit they have played a game more than Burnley, who sit 17th on the table.
For Manchester United, the defeat, their third under Interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, is a major blow as it could mean an end to the dream of playing Champions League next season.
United remain seventh on the log with 51 points, three away from fourth-placed Tottenham, who take on Aston Villa later today.
