He explained that contrary to speculation, Chinwo had not avoided an audit, as two separate financial reviews had already been conducted.</p>

<p>Addressing allegations that the EFCC coerced or mistreated EazyTee, Edoho dismissed such claims, stating that the process was transparent.</p>

Frank Edoho weighs in on Mercy Chinwo’s legal battle with former manager

<h2 style="text-align: start"><strong>The Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of controversial social media personality Very Dark Man (VDM) over the alleged defamation of Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.</strong></h2>

<p>Magistrate <strong>Emmanuel Iyanna</strong> issued the bench warrant on Thursday, March 13, 2025, following VeryDarkMan's failure to appear before the magistrate after being summoned on March 5, 2025.</p>

<p>The news was confirmed to <strong>Channels Television</strong> on March 13 by VDM's lawyer <strong>Deji Adeyanju</strong>, <i>“Yes, a bench warrant has been issued against him for failure to show up in court. They are just interested in a media trial; they are not serious about prosecution,"</i> he explained.</p>

<p>Adeyanju also explained that he had previously appealed to the court to allow him to appear in VDM's stead, however, the appeal was denied stressing that the social media personality was to appear by himself.</p>

<p>VDM's warrant of arrest follows his allaged defamatory remarks on social media, accusing Chinwo of being involved in a<a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/music/mercy-chinwo-accuses-former-manager-eezeetee-of-threatening-to-destroy-her-2025012820023478979"> contractual dispute</a> and the alleged diversion of $345,000 connected to <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/eezeetee-attempted-to-keep-me-in-servitude-mercy-chinwo-finally-replies-ex-manager-2025012611020946483">her former record label boss,</a> <strong>Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu</strong>, commonly known as Eezee Tee, were the basis for the bench warrant.</p>

<p>Chinwo provided the court with documentation to back up her assertions, such as emails and payment receipts, demonstrating that VDM's accusations were not only wholly untrue but also defamatory and detrimental to her character and public image.</p>

<p>According to the complainant's solicitors, led by <strong>Pelumi Olajengbesi</strong> of the Abuja-based Law Corridor, Chinwo, the defendant's claimed activities violate Section 24 (1)(B) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act 2015 and Section 391 of the Penal Code.</p>

<h2>In a new twist to the ongoing <a target="_self" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/music/mercy-chinwo-accuses-former-manager-eezeetee-of-threatening-to-destroy-her-2025012820023478979">Mercy Chinwo-EeZee Tee saga</a>, the gospel singer has filed a lawsuit against Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.</h2>

<p>This comes barely a month after the controversial content creator accused Chinwo of diverting funds from shows without paying her former record label, owned by Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu also known as Eezee Tee.</p>

<p>VDM had said that she diverted the sum of $345,000 linked to Eezee Tee in his call-out.</p>

<p>The lawsuit is filed by <strong>Pelumi Olajengbesi</strong>, Mercy Chinwo’s legal representative. </p>

<p>The demands stated include an order mandating VDM to delete, retract, and issue a public apology regarding the allegedly false and defamatory statements made against the gospel singer. </p>

<p>To back up her demands, Mercy Chinwo's team has attached documents as proof showing the court that VDM's allegations are unsubstantiated. These include emails, payment receipts etc. </p>

<p>Recall that a Federal High Court in Lagos on February 17, 2025 maintained that the arrest warrant against EeZee Tee over alleged fraudulent conversion subsists.</p>

<p>The case was then adjourned until March 6, 2025 for the arraignment of the record label owner.</p>

<p>As seen in this fresh lawsuit, Olajengbesi said VDM's posts made on his social media pages were "libelous, malicious, spiteful, malevolent, and grossly defamatory."</p>

<p>The singer's legal representative added that it "impugns the image and character" of Mercy Chinwo.</p>

<p>Olajengbesi further stated that VDM was not involved in the dispute between Chinwo and EeZee Tee yet he falsely presented the matter in a way that tarnished the singer’s image. </p>

<p><mark style="color: rgb(38, 38, 38); background-color: inherit;" class="pen">Pelumi Olajengbesi, the lawyer for Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has hinted that his client and her former record label boss, EezeeTee, have started a settlement process to end their lingering public feud.</mark></p>

<p>The lawyer shared the update in a statement on <i><strong>Instagram </strong></i>on Friday, February 7, 2025. The statement responded to Dr. Stephen Akintayo, a businessman who had earlier announced himself as a mediator.</p>

<p>Pelumi assured the businessman that a resolution would be reached soon, as both parties have shown a genuine commitment to a settlement.</p>

<p>He wrote,<i> “Dear @stephenakintayo, My name is Pelumi Olajengbesi. I am a Legal Practitioner and Solicitor to Minister Mercy Chinwo. I sincerely appreciate your concern and efforts toward mediation.</i></p>

<p>He wrote, “<i>On a personal note, I would have preferred to send this privately;. However, since your efforts have been made public, I must advise that you take a step back and reflect on the elementary rules of a mediator.</i></p>

<p><i>“It may be beneficial to use AI tools or refer to elementary mediation texts to reassess how you’ve engaged with this matter.</i></p>

<p><i>“For instance, statements such as: ‘Those encouraging @mercychinwo not to listen to anyone do not have their names dragged daily on social media. It’s Mercy’s name and reputation on the line, not that of the counselors.’ and several others—are highly inappropriate and against basic rules of mediation. I hope you are open to constructive feedback.</i></p>

Mercy Chinwo close to final resolution with EezeeTee - Singer’s lawyer announces

<p><br>In a new video shared on her Instagram page, award-winning gospel singer Mercy Chinwo Blessed accused her former manager <strong>Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu </strong>AKA <strong>Eezeetee</strong> of threatening to destroy her. </p>

<p>In the video, she revealed that she was forced to relocate to Port Harcourt after <strong>Eezeetee</strong> made the state unbearable for her. She revealed that she endured bullying and threats. </p>

<p>Mercy Chinwo further clarified that contrary to <strong>Eezeetee</strong>'s claim that she dragged him to court, he was the one who instituted legal action against her and gospel singer <strong>Minister Judikay</strong>. </p>

<p>She accused her former manager of threatening to use his connections to deal with her while bullying and threatening her life.</p>

<p>In the video, Mercy Chinwo stated that Eezeetee attempted to get her to sign a 12-year contract which she refused to sign which led to their issues. <br><br>She further claimed that Mr. <strong>Onyedikachukwu</strong>'s enmity with <a target="_self" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/music/nathaniel-bassey-moses-bliss-mercy-chinwo-among-most-streamed-gospel-artists-on-spotify-africa-2024121609372688583">renowned gospel singer </a><strong>Nathaniel Bassey</strong> and popular Pastor <strong>Jerry Eze</strong> further motivated him to antagonise her up to the point of sponsoring fake news about the son's paternity. </p>

<p>The issue between both parties is another in the label vs artist dispute that pervades the Nigerian music industry in which even the gospel side of the business isn't spared. </p>

Mercy Chinwo accuses former manager Eezeetee of threatening to destroy her

The dispute between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and former manager Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu AKA Eezeetee continues to unfold.

<p>Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, who has been embroiled in a public spat with her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, aka Eezeetee, has finally broken her silence.</p>

<p>On Saturday, Mercy released her side of the story in a lengthy statement signed by her lawyer, <strong>Pelumi Olajengbesi</strong>. In it, she accused her former record label boss of contract fraud.</p>

<p>Recall that Eezeetee, who is the founder of the record label EeZee Conceptz, had earlier been accused of exploiting the singer, allegedly diverting approximately $345,000 from her digital platforms and events without disclosing the transactions and remitting her share.</p>

<p>Although Eezeetee has denied any wrongdoing, Mercy further accused him of contract fraud in her lengthy statement.</p>

<p>The 34-year-old singer accused the music executive of replacing the original contract she signed with him when she joined the record label in 2017 with a new one in 2019 without her knowledge.</p>

<p>She added that Eezeetee refused to give her a copy of the contract in 2017 till the contract duration expired in 2022.</p>

<p>The singer alleged that the new contract was designed to “<i>keep me in servitude</i>” as it allocated lifetime ownership of all music works to Eezeetee.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/court-summons-5-people-who-said-nathaniel-bassey-fathered-mercy-chinwos-son-2024072702282526368">Mercy also accused Eezeetee</a> of modifying financial reports and failing to remit her share of digital streaming earnings.</p>

<p>She claimed that Eezeetee retained $274,000 in digital platform revenues without her knowledge or consent.</p>

<p>The singer also accused Eezeetee of doctoring reports received from Symphonic, Africori, and YouTube by not declaring the correct revenue split to be paid to her.</p>

<p>Mercy narrated how Eezeetee reneged on an agreement reached during a reconciliation meeting at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, office despite apologising and promising to make amends,</p>

<p>She, therefore, demanded that Eezeetee explain the disappearance of the original 2017 contract and the introduction of the new 2019 contract, urging him to inform the public about the actual state of the two contracts.</p>

<p>The statement from Merry Chinwo, which is entitled ‘Mercy Chinwo and Mr. Ezekiel Thankgod (Eezetee): Setting The Record Straight,’ reads in part;</p>

<p><i>“We are Solicitors to Minister Mercy Chinwo, hereinafter referred to as Minister Mercy.</i></p>

<p><i>“It is with deep concern that we address the recent controversies surrounding Minister Mercy’s relationship with Mr. Ezekiel ThankGod (Eezeetee), her former manager. While we would have preferred to maintain silence on this matter, the severity of the falsehoods being circulated compels us to clarify the facts and set the record straight.</i></p>

<p><i>“Contrary to the sensational narratives, Minister Mercy did not initiate any court action case against Mr. Ezekiel ThankGod (Eezeetee) regarding her music catalogue. At no point has she claimed that a 50/50 revenue split from her DSP earnings is unfair. The issues with Mr. Eezeetee are, in fact, grave matters that have posed significant threats to her life and cannot be easily exhausted, but she has preferred to remain silent.</i></p>

<p><i>“By the fourth year (of Mercy’s contract with Eezeetee), the relationship had become extremely toxic, as Minister Mercy started to endure untold verbal and emotional assault that literally affected her person. Eezeetee would threaten her with statements like: “I will deal with you, I will mess you up, I made you whom you are, I can shut you up, and nobody will hear you again, I will destroy your career” including the use of the “F” word, sadly on different occasions. Extremely hostile, antagonistic and abusive.</i></p>

<p><i>“He falsely listed himself as the writer of all her songs, to receive revenues as both writer and producer. He refused to remit her a penny from the publishing revenue for the past seven years, from inception till date and Minister Mercy didn’t make it an issue. He did not remit his ‘choiced’ 50% of the Digital Streams earnings from 2022 to 2024 — a complete two years.</i></p>

<p><i>“Eezeetee claimed he has paid her over $600,000; that couldn’t have been the reason for the issues. Minister Mercy recorded and released almost 40 songs with him. Whatever he has remitted to her is from the 50% ratio, and she has never complained about the percentage.</i></p>

<p><i>“Apostle Anselem attempted to help resolve the matter on several occasions. We were advised to forgive and forget, and we happily did. Eezeetee was told to remit Minister Mercy’s due, and everyone agreed on an independent audit. A neutral auditor was appointed. The audit was about to start when Eezeetee pulled out and refused to comply further on the excuse that his lawyer was not at the meeting where the audit was agreed upon. The auditor had to resign for lack of cooperation. Having seen the volume of revenue coming, he had to manipulate a new contract.</i></p>

<p><i>“Minister Mercy firmly believes that the Lord has settled her and wiped away her tears, reaffirming her position that these issues are not beyond resolution. However, Eezeetee should tell the world as he has been doing, what happened to the 2017 contract she signed in Port Harcourt? What is the reason behind the introduction of a new Lagos-based contract in 2019? Why was the document forged? and why has he refused to inform the public about the true state of the two contracts.</i></p>

<h2>An Abuja Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse Zone 6, has issued Criminal Summons on five persons, Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, DJ Spoiltkid, Terrence Ekot, and Samuel Agozie, for alleged defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.</h2>

<p>The summons is signed by the Registrar of the court, <strong>Emmanuel Iyanna</strong>. They are to appear before the court on April 23 for alleging that popular gospel singer,<strong> Nathaniel Bassey</strong> fathered Mercy’s son.</p>

<p>This followed a Direct Criminal Complaint filed by <strong>Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa</strong>, husband of Mercy, against the five individuals for Criminal Defamation through his lawyers led by <strong>Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq</strong>.</p>

<p>Uzochikwa said the alleged acts of Criminal Defamation were carried out through deliberate circulation of injurious falsehood, cyberbullying and cyberstalking.</p>

<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendants recently alleged that popular Gospel Singer Nathaniel Bassey fathered the son of Chinwo, an allegation that has gone viral on the social media space.</p>

<p>They made the allegations on their social media accounts when Mercy and her husband posted pictures of their son and themselves on different social media platforms on March 29. According to them, the Uzochikwas’ son has a vivid semblance of Bassey, insinuating he could be the real father of the child.</p>

<p>Ejike’s post read: “<em>This Mercy Chinwo’s child she was hiding after giving birth, but the truth is that this baby looks exactly like singer Nathaniel Bassey.</em></p>

<p><em>“Nothing anybody wants to reason with me oh. This child is Nathaniel Bassey’s Baby. Maybe a secret away match occurred; otherwise, how can we make empirical sense of this.”</em></p>

<p><em>Terrence Ekot's post on the platform “X” reads: “Take a look at the stunning resemblance of Mercy Chinwo’s son and Nathaniel Bassey.</em></p>

<p><em>“Though the duo has been working together on several projects, what do you have to say?”</em></p>

<p>The posts have since caused buzz on social media, with many calling out Bassey on why he should be involved in such an appalling act. Similarly, Bassey, who has done several music collaborations with Chinwo, also petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), <strong>Kayode Egbetokun</strong>, over the allegation.</p>

<p>In a petition filed by his lawyers, <strong>Peter Abraham</strong>, <strong>Uche Matthew</strong>, <strong>Gbenga Agunloye</strong>, and <strong>Anthony Abia</strong>, he asked the IGP to investigate and prosecute the social media users who accused him of alleged paternity fraud.</p>

<p>The lawyers said the social media posts by the individuals amounted to the complete assassination of Bassey’s character and therefore urged the police authorities to urgently treat the petition against them.</p>
