<h2>Nigerian street-hop singer Portable has shared his thoughts on the visa application process, arguing that fluency in English is not a deciding factor when seeking entry into foreign countries.</h2>

<p>In a recent interview on the <i><strong>Echoo Room podcast</strong></i>, <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/a-timeline-of-portables-arrests-and-controversies-2025021915352983177">the controversial artiste</a> explained that he does not stress about speaking perfect English <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/lifestyle/top-10-european-countries-that-gives-visas-to-nigerians-easily-2025020710331771280">during visa interviews</a>. According to him, having the right documentation and a valid reason for travel are more important than language proficiency.</p>

<blockquote><p>English is not used to collect visas, for real. When I do interviews for visas, I tell them my name and they I'm an artiste coming in for a show. I could say, 'I have twenty shows in the country spread across a month, I've been to London and I'm going to Canada. I have been paid and I don't want to refund them. I have paid a hotel.'</p></blockquote>

<blockquote><p>So what English do other people want to speak that I can't? When we pick up the form of someone with better English, they may not get it.</p></blockquote>

<p>His statement quickly sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing with him. Some pointed out that several non-English-speaking foreigners successfully travel and do business globally without being fluent in the language.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: start"><strong>Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has shared details about his recent time in prison, recounting the experience of being in a cell with accused criminals.</strong></h2>

<p>During his recent interview on <i><strong>The Echooroom Podcast</strong></i>, the singer recalled being thrown into the cell after being arrested<a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/portable-declares-himself-mad-says-he-is-undergoing-treatment-2025021814354816018"> <strong>for assaulting Ogun state government officials</strong></a>. He narrated how he gave his cellmates money upon his arrival, thus forming a rapport with them.</p>

I didn't carry money into the cell but we were able to withdraw money na.<br><br>They normally beat up new people in the cell o, and when I got there the marshall came down from his seat to become the leader somehow. I had to remind myself that this is not my house, I was surrounded by different kinds of men.</p></blockquote>

<p>Portable recalled a day that his cellmates asked him to join them in prayer, which he refused because he believed that their prayers wouldn't work together. After all, he had never murdered anyone.</p>

<blockquote><p>I asked one of the cellmates his offence, he said that he was accused of murder so I told him to stand next to me since he hadn't killed anyone.<br><br>That's how one person said we should pray together and I said no. How could we pray together, God doesn't answer those kinds of prayers. When it's not like we're in church. One person said he had killed a person, another one had killed two people and another three people. As I haven't killed anyone, our prayers can't work together.</p></blockquote>

<p>The singer also spoke on his rocky relationship with the equally controversial crossdresser, Bobrisky, stating that he was God's Angel sent to make him change his ways.</p>

<p>He said, <i>"Bobrisky is my friend and I want him to change that's why I always insult him."</i></p>

<p>The singer added that the crossdresser's antics are a sin against God.</p>

<h2>Nigerian musicians, Portable and Speed Darlington, are set to enter the ring in a celebrity showdown this April.</h2>

<p>Fans are anticipating this boxing clash which will determine the ultimate winner between the warring entertainers.</p>

<p>The match, set to hold on Friday evening, April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Center promises to be explosive.</p>

<p>The feuding stars were caught in a war of words at first when Imo State-born Darlington invited Portable to perform at his upcoming show promising to pay him a fee of ₦500,000. </p>

<p>Portable, born <strong>Habeeb Okikiola Badmus</strong>, found the proposed payment insulting and declined the invite. The 31-year-old Ijesha-born Zeh Nation boss then went on to mock Darlington for being "poor".</p>

<p>He also claimed that he charges ₦20 million per performance.</p>

<p><i>“You are inviting me to a show, and you don’t have money. You are using my name to promote your show. I charge ₦20 million, ask around,</i>” Portable said. "<i>…You’re offering me ₦500k, for what? I don’t want to be friends with poor people. I didn't know he is that poor</i>.”</p>

<p>Darlington then responded furiously, accusing Portable of insulting his mother.</p>

<p><i>“Why did I bring myself low? Why did I contact Portable? I regret it because why the insults? Why did my mother get into the discussion?</i>” he said. </p>

<p>Street hop star <strong>Portable </strong>has picjed a new battle and this time, it is with Fuji music icon King Saheed Osupa whom he recently disparage in a video. </p>

<p>In the clip shared on his Instagram page Portable called Osupa "Big for nothing" after the Fuji musician took down one of his songs from Apple Music over copyright infringement.</p>

<p>The song titled <i>'Fuji Shakushaku' </i>carried melodic arrangement and delivery that boldly mirrored the style popularised by King Saheed Osupa across his illustrious career. </p>

<p>Portable, now appears to have had a rethink as he tendered an apology to the Fuji icon. <br><br>In a post on his Instagram post on March 20, Portable speaking in Yoruba begged for forgiveness from the Osupa and claimed his previous rant was caused by the pain of having his sing taken down from streaming platforms. He also called the Fuji legend an inspiration.</p>

<p>An Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court has adjourned the case against popular Musician <strong>Habeeb Okikiola</strong>, a.k.a. <strong>Portable</strong>, to March 26 so that the prosecution can merge his charges with those of his workers.</p>

<p>When the case against the artist resumed on Wednesday after his earlier arraignment on February 20, the prosecution told the court that it would be a waste of time for the court to hear the case of Portable and that of his workers separately.</p>

<p>Mr <strong>Timileyin Oredein</strong>, Senior State Counsel, told the court that Portable’s case had a sister case, which needed to be merged before the trial began.</p>

<p>Oredein reminded the court that the musician and nine of his workers were earlier arraigned on February 6 on similar charges.</p>

<p>The highly controversial singer&nbsp;was&nbsp;declared wanted by the Ogun State police on February 18, 2025, after he and nine of his associates allegedly obstructed the officials. Before that, Portable had been hiding for a week while his associates were arraigned at given a ₦5million each.</p>

<p>However, after he was declared wanted,&nbsp;his fans began to urge him to surrender to the police&nbsp;before matters escalated further, but he pleaded with the government and declared himself insane.</p>

I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients. I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. <p>His insanity plea&nbsp;was quickly turned down by law enforcement and he was urged to leave his hiding place.</p>

<p>After he surrendered, the news was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP <strong>Benjamin Hundeyin</strong>,&nbsp;“<i>Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted the Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,”</i>&nbsp;he stated. He was then transferred to Ogun State.</p>

Portable announces new EP 'Ogo Most Wanted' amidst legal troubles

<p>Taking to Instagram on February 21, 2025, Portable expressed his gratitude and swore to keep out of trouble.</p>

<p>After the altercation between the singer, his associates, and the officials, the others were quickly arraigned and given ₦5 million each; however, Portable ran away and stayed in hiding for a week. During that one week, he continued to post online, beckoning others for help, and within time his fans began to <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/fans-urge-portable-to-surrender-to-police-after-being-declared-wanted-2025021909381072904">advise him to turn himself in.</a></p>

<p>After he surrendered, the news was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin,<i> “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted the Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,”</i> he stated. He was then transferred to Ogun State.</p>

<p>In April 2024, transgender social media personality Bobrisky and socialite Cubana chief priest were arrested and charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for abusing the naira notes. After seeing the punishment meted out to Bobrisky, the<i> Zazzu zeh </i>singer went live on Instagram to plead with the anti-graft agency for forgiveness for spraying naira, and promised not to repeat such.</p>

<p>In February 2025, Portable was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command after he and his associates allegedly attacked government officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo. The officials had visited to enforce regulatory compliance when the singer and his crew allegedly beat them up and vandalized their equipment.</p>
