Ex-Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, says dabbling into politics made him a poorer man.
Obi, 60, has been battling allegations bordering on tax evasion, money laundering, incorporating shell companies and operating foreign bank accounts, while governing southeastern Anambra State from 2006 to 2014.
In his response to the Pandora Papers investigation, Obi says politics dealt him a bad hand, as opposed to enriching him.
"If anything, politics...I am not regretting it...because anywhere I have found myself it is by the grace of God.
"If there's anything to regret in my life, it's going into politics because it made me poorer," Obi says during his AriseTV interview.
Obi has told anyone who cares to listen that he was a successful businessman before his foray into politics.
Obi was PDP's vice presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections.
