A Borno State Senator, Khalifa Zanna, has died after a prolonged battle with liver cancer, SaharaReporters said a his son confirmed.
The senator, who was in the fore front of the advocacy for the Borno people in the face of Boko Haram crisis, died this morning, May 16, on his way to the National Hospital Abuja.
He was 60 years old.
It was learnt that Zanna had been in and out of hospitals in the United States and Germany, treating the ailment which eventually killed him.
The All Progressives Congress senator won his re-election in the March 28 election.
He was known for continually criticising the Jonathan government for its incompetence in the fight against insurgency in the north east region.
