Nigerian university students are not just at home now because of the ongoing pandemic. They have been on strike since March.
With ASUU suggesting that there should be no school till next year, one can only imagine how these students are feeling.
We reached out to a number of them and their stories are pretty similar in that they are all bored and fed up already - well, almost all of them.

I am broke and bored. But on the other hand the house is really relaxing. I mean you don't have to worry about food, you have your parents taking care of you and stuff like that. But on the brighter side we have our online classes to keep us busy.

I’m in my final year and the whole Rona stuff is slowing my project down and making it look like I will have to graduate in 2021 now. I also miss the freedom that comes with being in school. No form of restriction at all but at home, there are rules for everything you do. I’ve been indoors forever. 6pm is like the curfew in this house.

As for me, I’ve missed my girls!!! I’ve been in contact with both my guys and everyone through calls and text messages sha. But omo, I miss my girls gan. I can’t even lie.
Rosaline/Unilag
I was happy to be free from all that school stress before, but now, I’ve had enough please. I’m frustrated, I’m tired of doing the same thing everyday. I’ve gained weight. I don’t have anywhere to go. I don’t have anything to do. I just eat, sleep and wake and repeat.
Benjy/UNIBEN
Thankfully for me, I haven’t been bored. But it’s been mad hectic in a way. I am the driver in my house, they still make me do house chores on top of that. I hope it ends soon sha because one needs to get back to being serious with school work once again.
Simi/UNILAG
It’s been like hell in a cell. Reading hasn't been going well because there's no motivation. I feel so lackadaisical about it. I don't miss the actual academic aspect of school sha. Going for 8:00 class is like the worst thing ever.
Fareedah/UNILAG
I run a business so I have been occupied. But I miss my friends!!! I miss the whole atmosphere of learning, meeting and greeting people. What I don't miss about school is waking up early. I am in year 2 studying mathematics. So you can understand why.
Henrietta/FUNAAB
The only positive thing about this strike/covid wahala is that I get to work a bit and earn little money in preparation for resumption, The negative sides are too many. I hate to remember that I’ll now graduate later than the stipulated time.
But I miss school just for the part where I wake early, wear fine clothes, carry bag and go and shake my yansh inside school.
Olawunmi/OAU
My time at home has been tiring. But I am learning some new stuff and the more I do that, I’m just like, oh, maybe school should not even resume because if school resumes, everything will just become scattered. Like, I won’t be able to do these things I’m doing now.
Jaye/University of Abuja
I’m the last born in my house so I have been hopping from one big sibling’s place to another. Where I am now, that one is like me. Na so so enjoyment. And plenty girls since lockdown ended. Lol. Please we will resume when we resume.
