The Police Command in Borno on Tuesday said it has released the husband of the housewife who was murdered at her matrimonial home in Maiduguri after arresting the principal suspect.

The command said that the husband, Adamu Ibrahim, and his friend, Bukar Wadiya, who were detained after reporting the incident to the police, had been released.

This is contained in a statement on Tuesday in Maiduguri by the command spokesman, ASP Sani Kamilu.

He said the principal suspect, Abacha Bukar, was tracked and arrested in connection with the October 18 murder of the 24-year-old housewife, Fatima Alhaji-Bukar.

Kamilu said that the police arrested the suspect after tracking the missing mobile phone of the deceased. He said five other suspects were also arrested for receiving stolen properties and abating a criminal act.

The other suspects are Ibrahim Mustapha, Usman Yusuf, Muhammed Yunus, Nuhu Mohammed and Ismaila Mohammed Barka, all in the Gwange area of Maiduguri.
