Sheikh Habeeb Abdullahi Al-Ilory, the proprietor of Markaz Arabic and Islamic Training Institute, Agege, Lagos reportedly suffered a stroke during a sermon in Ilorin, Kwara state.
According to Daily Trust, the incident happened on Thursday, February 4, 2022, during the Nikkah ceremony of the daughter of former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Alfa Belgore.
It was reported that the Islamic scholar had barely started the sermon when he collapsed.
Habeeb was thereafter admitted to the Stroke Unit of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
Confirming this, a top medical officer at the teaching hospital disclosed to the newspaper that the cleric “was rushed to UITH on Thursday and it was later discovered that he suffered a stroke. He is at the Stroke Unit of the UITH.”
A source close to Markaz in Lagos also confirmed the incident to this writer, saying he heard the cleric feels better now.
