Lady who allegedly stabbed husband to death has been granted bail

Maryam Sanda who has been in prison for stabbing her husband to death, has been granted bail.

An FCT High Court has granted bail to Maryam Sanda who allegedly stabbed her husband, Bilyamin Bello, to death in November of 2017.

The late Bello was a son of Haliru Bello, former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sanda reportedly took Bello’s life after she suspectedthat he was unfaithful to her.

Back in 2017, the police command said it was finding it difficult detaining Sanda because she was nursing a baby.

The charge against Sanda had read in parts: "That you, Mariam Sanda, female, adult of No. 4 Pakail Close, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on or about the 19/11/2017, at about 03:50 hours, at Pakail Close, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, within the Abuja Judicial Division, did commit the offence of causing grievous hurt.

"That you stabbed one Bilyaminu Bello Halliru, male, of No. 4 Pakail Close, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, and on the neck, thereby endangering his life; you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 240(g) and punishable under section 247 of the Penal Code Law".

Pregnant

Sanda was granted bail by the judge, Yusuf Halilu, at today’s hearing.

Halilu said he was granting Sanda bail because medical reports indicate that she is pregnant and ill.

Sanda had been denied bail twice prior to today’s hearing.
