Boko Haram militants are said to have attacked a community in Niger which is a neighbouring country to Nigeria.
Abba Hassan, a resident of the border town of Bosso, Niger told The Associated Press that the insurgents had that engaged soldiers in an hour-long battle and were eventually defeated.
"Niger and Chadian planes are conducting surveillance at the moment in town and troops on the ground are combing through the streets," Hassan said.
Chad and Cameroon have also suffered attacks from the sect which operates largely out of Nigeria.
The Chadian army has deployed 2,500 of its soldiers to aid in the fight against Boko Haram and the troops have managed to kill 123 of the terrorists in Cameroon and another 200 in Nigeria.
