A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered social media influencer and blogger Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman, to remain in police custody after his bail application was denied.

According to SaharaReporters, the controversial social media influencer faces five counts of cyberstalking, and the hearing has been postponed until next Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The police prosecution informed Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon that they required additional time to respond to the bail application, a request which the court accepted.

The prosecution initially requested that the blogger be remanded in prison, but his lawyers successfully argued that he should stay in police custody instead.

As a result, he has been placed in the National Cybercrime Centre.

Recently, VeryDarkMan criticised the Nigerian police for failing to arrest the controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

In recent videos, VeryDarkMan disapproved of Bobrisky being awarded Best Dressed Female at a Nollywood event.

However, the Nigeria Police Force stated that they could not arrest Bobrisky as there is no law against cross-dressing in Nigeria and no evidence of him engaging in same-sex relations.

In April, the police mentioned that their case against VeryDarkMan was still ongoing.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, explained that the extended detention of the controversial social media influencer was due to a court order.

It was reported that VeryDarkMan was arrested by the police following numerous petitions concerning his online behaviour.
