Becca helped Rick get cast on Survivor.
Rick is a morning anchor for WGXA in Macon, Georgia, and he wrote a blog explaining how he got on the show:
"Ive been chasing the Survivor dream for a long time. I applied to be on the show four times over the last 10 years. I sent in a 'wacky' video when I was in college at Virginia Tech. Once I got married, my wife participated in my video. Still no dice. I got a job in news and used the green screen and editing to make a video. Radio silence. There were plenty of times I could have given up.
"My wife, Becca, had more reason than anyone to gently ask me to let the dream go. Do you think it was her dream to be left alone for seven weeks with two kids, two dogs, two cats and deck full of plants? It was not. She still pushed me to apply."

Their cover story for why Rick was going to be away for 39 days involved the Appalachian Trail.
Rick also told WGXA that he and Becca told a little white lie to their family and friends once he got cast on the show. "Becca and I came up with a story. My friend from college was filming a documentary about hiking the Appalachian Trail. He wanted me to be in it. We told people it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance and I was going-even though it meant Id be out of touch for seven weeks."
And Rick says Becca is the real reason why he was able to go on the show.
Rick recently posted a photo in honor of Becca's birthday, and he said that "Becca worked especially hard this year so that I could live my dream."

Rick told WGXA about how Becca made things work while he was away on Survivor. "My wife Becca and I were glad to have a village when I decided to run off for seven weeks to live out a dream on an island in Fiji," he wrote. "From the get-go, my wife was on board. This was a dream that pre-dated out (sic) marriage and she was excited Id have the chance to live it out."

Rick and Becca have two kids.
Jack, 5, and Juliet, 1, are often the stars of their parents' Instagrams, and the tots also watch their dad compete for the million dollar prize on Survivor.

Rick and Becca also take some pretty funny Instagrams.
A good sense of humor is definitely needed as you take on parenthood, and Rick and Becca laugh at themselves and their kids' antics all the time.
