The magnificient Lekki-Ikoyi Brigde was built to provide an alternate route linking Lekki to Ikoyi.
Not only is the bridge the most photographed landmark in Lagos right now, it is also the hottest jogging spot. Relationship experts say your chances of meeting a young, warm blooded member of the opposite sex while running or jogging on this bridge are pretty high.
I mean, even Mack Zuckerberg jogged on this bridge when he visited Nigeria and if that doesn't make it the offical Lagos jogging route, I don't know what will.

Beyond the beauty of the bridge, people who ply Lekki and Ikoyi routes are just hugely relived to escape the Lekki and Ozumba Nbadiwe traffic via this new bridge. So much so that they don't seem to mind paying 250 Naira each time they pass through the bridge.
The beautiful bridge, covering a distance of 1.358 kilometres is the most used alternative route to Ikoyi, Lekki and environs.
Commissioned by former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola on May 29, 2013, the bridge was constructed by Julius Berger Nigerian Plc and it cost a whooping sum of 29 Billion Naira.
The bridge bears some similarity to the popular Eiffel in Paris. The inverted V shaped pillars that are held to the walls of the lower part of the bridge form a series of lines similar to large spider webs.
The bridge is most beautiful at night when it is lit up by countless bright sparkly lights which seem to wink in response to the lights on the buildings close by on the shore.
In a state where security is an issue and robberies are commonplace, it is a comfort to see policemen and other security personnel patrol the bridge at vantage points.
Beyond the beauty of the bridge and how much of a beautiful spot it is for pre-wedding photo shoots and proposals remains the fact that it has solved the problem of one of the most tedious traffic routes in Lagos.
That is how to kill two birds with one stone; ease traffic, and be a scenic spot all at once. Thank you Fashola!
