We know that the more calories a meal has, the more it causes weight gain. 

Meals with high calories lead to diabetes, obesity and excessive weight gain, but this is not to say we should stay clear of calories. 

Our body needs calories for energy. However, the serving and proportion make the difference.

These are some Nigerian meals that are high in calories;

Semo

Semo is an easy swallow to prepare, it is one of those fast meals made when you want to feel filled v, but do you know it is packed with calories? They are 360 calories in 100 grams of semo.

Fufu

Made from fermented cassava tubers, fufu is also packed with calories; 100 grams of fufu has about 156 calories.

White bread

If you plan on losing weight and you are still eating white bread, I do not know what to say to you. 100 grams of white bread contains 265 calories.

Beans

Beans are a high energy food with high-calorie content. 100 grams of beans contains a whopping 347 calories.

White rice

Nigerians cannot survive without rice, but white rice is a high-calorie meal with about 206 grams per cup.

Garri

Garri is another Nigerian meal packing in calories and when you think of the fact that some soups like egusi have high calories too, you can understand why we never reach fitfam goals. A cup of garri has about 330 calories.
