Lagos press conference at Eko hotel, VI

Fela re-awakens on stage as broadway musical concert holds this weekend in April.

The much-anticipated concert Fela, the Broadway musical finally berths in Lagos, Nigeria. The event kicked off with a press conference held at the Eko Hotel and Suite Victoria Island.

In attendance were Jack Gulick (GM), Sahr Ngaujah (who plays fela) and some other members of the cast including 'fela's brides' and dancers, who did justice to a number of questions the audience had to ask.

Sahr Ngaujah explained that Fela, the concert started from the scratch sometime in 2006 with no script. The broadway concert however presents Fela's controversial life as an artist, a political activist and revolutionary musician, and to people haven't heard about him all over Africa and the world at large.

Fela, the concert is a creative process which it started with the Kuti family at the shrine in Kalakuta, although, they were not directly involved with the production.

Shawn and Iris further went ahead to say that, although they got to know Fela when they joined the crew, after some research and all, and they would be representing key characters in Fela's life during the concert.

Casting as one of Fela's queens is Shawn and Iris, Sahr Ngaujah playing the role of Fela himself, Olutayo (American-Nigerian), who also features in the show and a bunch of other Nigerians and African-American.
