If there are any ingredients your kitchen must never be without, that would be salt, garlic and pepper.

This is according to Chef Michael Elegbede, a budding Nigerian chef who cut his teeth in the food and hospitality business during his stint at the world famous Eleven Madison Park restaurant, New York.

Chef Micheal was a recent guest at Pulse TV where he shared his must-have ingredients for every kitchen: salt, pepper, tomato, rice and garlic.

According to Chef Micheal, tomatoes are particularly important because of "the complexity it brings to food especially on this side of the world, there are very few things we cook without tomato"

He further pointed out that garlic is an essential kitchen must-have because it "brings a distinct profile to a dish from subtle to intense"
